Virtual Bookkeeping Services

By Cole Kline, Founder, Edge Operations Managers

Virtual bookkeeping is bookkeeping done remotely in your cloud accounting software. A bookkeeper categorizes your transactions and reconciles your bank and credit card accounts on a regular schedule, so your books are current when you or your CPA need them.

Edge bookkeeping is reconciliation and categorization only. It is not accounting, tax preparation, tax advice or CPA work.

What Edge bookkeeping includes

  • Monthly transaction categorization
  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliation
  • Work done in QuickBooks Online by an Edge bookkeeper, with quality review
  • After each month's reconciliation and categorization, a Google Sheets document showing how your transactions were categorized
  • Monthly bookkeeping that covers your books going forward

QuickBooks Online is the only platform Edge bookkeeping uses.

Cleanup or catch-up of past periods

If earlier periods need cleanup or catch-up, that is available as a separate per-project engagement, apart from the monthly service.

What it does not include

Tax returns, tax advice, payroll tax filings, audits, financial statements prepared as a CPA, or advice on how to run your finances. Your CPA or accountant keeps that work.

Who it's for

Owner-led businesses that want clean, current books without hiring an in-house bookkeeper. You do not need to be an Edge Operations Manager client. Bookkeeping is a standalone service.

FAQ

What is virtual bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping done remotely in your cloud accounting software: transactions categorized and accounts reconciled on a regular schedule.

What is the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?

A bookkeeper keeps the records current. An accountant or CPA interprets them, prepares taxes and gives tax advice. Most businesses need both.

Does Edge bookkeeping include taxes or accounting?

No. Edge bookkeeping is reconciliation and categorization only. We do not prepare tax returns, give tax advice, do audits or act as your CPA.

Do I need to be an Edge Operations Manager client to use Edge bookkeeping?

No. Bookkeeping is a standalone service, available with or without an Operations Manager.

Do you handle client assets for RIAs?

No. Bookkeeping covers the firm's own business books, never client accounts or investment records.
